Dr. Anam Shaikh – Rheumatologist

Dr. Anam Shaikh completed a combined seven-year undergraduate/medical school program in New York where she received her medical degree. She went on to complete three years of internal medicine residency as well as two years of rheumatology fellowship at NYU’s Winthrop Hospital. Dr. Anam Shaikh is Double Board Certified in Internal Medicine & Rheumatology.

Since completing her training, Dr. Shaikh has been in private practice and has extensive experience in clinical rheumatology. Dr. Shaikh can diagnose and treat a multitude of rheumatologic conditions including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, axial spondyloarthropathies, crystalline arthritis including gout, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Giant Cell Arteritis, vasculitides, Sjogrens, and Scleroderma. Dr. Shaikh also treats Osteoporosis, Relapsing Polychondritis, as well as Adult onset Still’s disease. She believes her osteopathic training helps her greatly in treating the musculoskeletal complaints that are often seen in these conditions. Dr. Shaikh can offer patients access to emerging therapeutic agents including conventional medications and disease modifying biologic agents.

Dr. Shaikh incorporates her passion for wellness, nutrition and holistic health in her approach to helping patients. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Since the start of the pandemic, she has been practicing social distancing and has taken joy in home improvement projects. She also enjoys exploring the kitchen with new recipes and meal prep ideas for her family.

Oftentimes, rheumatologic diagnoses are not clear-cut or “textbook” presentations, and I understand every patient is unique. I hope to have the privilege of helping my patients get help and lead them to the path of wellness.”
